Chester – The Philadelphia Union will wrap up their preseason action Friday when they face CF Montreal to close out the 2025 preseason in Orlando. The match is scheduled to take place at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. Unfortunately for Union fans, there will be no live stream of this match as it will be a closed preseason competition.
As the Union conclude their preseason, Philadelphia Union head coach Bradley Carnell met with the media Thursday to provide updates on the team.
Injury Updates
First, on the injury front, Carnell provided an update on Ian Glavinovich: “He trained with us today fully,” Carnell said. “So he’s integrated back into the group, and he’ll be eligible for tomorrow.”
This is good news for Union fans, as Glavinovich played in the Union’s first preseason match against SK Slavia Prague but has been sidelined since that game with an injury. Getting him back to full fitness will be vital for the center-back group as the club heads into the regular season.
Carnell also addressed the health of right-back Nathan Harriel, who has missed most of the preseason due to injury.
“He’s up to about 88% of top speed, so that’s exciting,” Carnell said. “Hopefully, he’ll join us in the next couple of days. He’s not fully integrated yet, but he’s training intensely on the side and covering a lot of ground. It will be great when he’s back with us fully to keep the competition up.”
If Harriel and backup right- back Olivier Mbaizo, who has been dealing with a knee injury, are unable to go, newly signed homegrown player Frankie Westfield might step in.
“Frankie Westfield has done a great job,” Carnell said. “He’s fully bought in. He knows exactly what’s going on, and he plays according to a lot of the principles we’re implementing.”

New Addition
One other new addition, Jovan Lukic, who played in the Union’s last match against FC Cincinnati, has impressed Carnell.
“He couldn’t be more excited to be around the group,” Carnell said. “The group has accepted him as if he’s been here for a year already. His English is excellent, and he understands everything within the philosophy. We’re excited to have him in and around our group.”
With opening night set for February 22 against Orlando City, it will be one last chance for Carnell and the team to evaluate the roster heading into the season opener.
“The more players we have fit and healthy, the better,” Carnell said. “We’ve put a lot of load on them, not just physically but also cognitively. It’s good to see them go through various moments in preseason. We’ve challenged them a lot. They’ve been tested in games, and the more healthy players we have on the roster, the more competition we’ll have. That will hopefully lead to great results down the line.”

Voltage Kit Released
The new “Voltage” kit has officially been announced as the Philadelphia Union’s secondary kit for the 2025 season.
The kit features bright electric yellow and blue, drawn from the Philadelphia city flag, representing the passion and resilience of both the Union and the city they represent.
To celebrate the launch of the kit, the club will host an event titled “Electrify the Night,” featuring a series of engaging, electricity-themed activities.
The event will take place February 15 at Subaru Park from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
