The MLS regular season is back, and if you are heading down for opening kickoff weekend at Inter & Co Stadium, we want to share a few places that we’ve checked out during our travels in Orlando, Florida, to help give you the best possible trip outside of the match.

Last year, we started doing these articles on our website. As always, if you have a special place that you always go to in Orlando, please feel free to share it. After all, the best away days are when you discover an amazing spot off the beaten path. So, please comment and help those traveling to the match have the best experience possible.

If you’d like any other travel tips or recommendations beyond what’s listed here, feel free to email me at my travel advisor email: kyle@madhatteradv.com.

Places to Visit:

Orlando has a lot to offer outside the theme parks, whether you’re a fan of more affordable attractions or prefer a more relaxed pace. Here are a few suggestions to check out prior to kickoff.

Orlando Wetlands Park

The majestic Orlando Wetlands Park was the world’s first large-scale, man-made wetland. Designed to filter pollutants from reclaimed water, the park has given way to an impressive array of plants and wildlife in a “mini-everglades.” Come and enjoy nature in its finest, most untouched form. Popular activities include birdwatching, nature photography, jogging, and bicycling.

John F. Kennedy Space Center

For decades, space has been our final frontier. The Kennedy Space Center is dedicated entirely to expanding our scientific knowledge and the boundaries of our galaxy. Serving as the gateway for American space exploration since 1968, the center is open for your exploration as well. Come be a part of past, present, and future history.

Harry P. Leu Gardens

The Harry P. Leu Gardens were founded in 1961, following the donation of its historical home and gardens to the City of Orlando. Now, visitors can explore the 50 acres of pure, natural bliss. Stroll along paths that lead to over 40 plant collections, including a butterfly garden and Florida’s largest rose garden.

Food and Drink:

Whether you’re looking for something quick and simple or something more high-end, there’s something for every taste and drink preference in Orlando.

White Wolf Cafe

The White Wolf Cafe was originally named after the owner’s beloved white German shepherd. When the cafe first opened, he would greet people at the door. The area in which this place is located has many unique boutiques that represent the true, colorful soul of Orlando.

Yellow Dog Eats

This old country store, converted into a restaurant, shouts fun the minute you enter, with its walls adorned with pictures of dogs and their owners everywhere. Try sandwiches like the Johnny Rocket or the Puppy Love. Chef Fish is known for making a legendary pulled pork sandwich. Though this restaurant is a little out of the way, it is completely worth the drive.

World of Beer

As the name suggests, you can expect a huge selection of beer here. Don’t expect to sample all varieties even over the course of many evenings. Trivia nights and live music sessions are commonly held at this venue as well. Highly recommend this place!

Murphy’s Pub

Murphy’s Pub is British-owned and operated, providing Orlando residents and visitors with an authentic pub experience. Beer pong is played every Friday, and the widescreen televisions are always aglow with games from the English Premier League, Coca-Cola Championship, Euro, Champions League, and the World Cup. Bucket and pitcher specials are offered daily.
