Coming off their comeback win over Toronto FC on Wednesday night, the Philadelphia Union head to Frisco, Texas for their first of two trips to the Lone Star State this season. On Saturday night, they take on FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium.
If this is your first time in Frisco, make sure to check out today’s travel article as I share a few places that Jillian and I enjoyed during our visit for the 2024 MLS Next Pro Cup, as well as from my previous travels there. As always, if you need additional travel suggestions, feel free to email me at Kyle@madhatteradv.com—I’d be happy to help.
About Frisco, Texas
Frisco began as a stop along Preston Road, one of the oldest north-south roads in Texas. Back in the mid-1800s, Preston Road—known at the time as the Shawnee Trail—was used to bring cattle into Texas. The arrival of the railroad at the turn of the 20th century further spurred growth in Frisco. The line that ran through town, known as the San Francisco–St. Louis Railway, provided a direct connection to cities such as Dallas, Tulsa, St. Louis, and Springfield, Missouri. It was this railway that inspired the name “Frisco” for the emerging town, which was officially established in 1904.
