With the US Men’s National Team camp underway and featuring three current Philadelphia Union homegrown players — Neil Pierre, Cavan Sullivan, and Frankie Westfield — the Union’s representation at the national team level does not end there. Additional players from the Union, Union II, and Union Academy ranks have also been called into US Youth National Teams during this international window.

Jakupovic and Mulvenna in U-17 squads

On the U-17 side, Union striker Malik Jakupovic has been named to coach Alex Aldaz’s roster for the camp in Marbella, Spain as they gear up for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar. The camp, featuring the 2009 group, will take place September 24-October 7 and include three international friendlies:

9/30: Ireland at Banús Football Center

10/3: Norway at Banús Football Center

10/6: the Netherlands at La Quinta Football Center

Aldaz will be choosing 21 players for his roster for Qatar. He shared, via US Soccer, “We look forward to this next window as we approach the final stages of FIFA U-17 World Cup preparation. Our players are enthusiastic about what lies ahead and are working towards improving individually and collectively daily. This will be a meaningful time to reunite and compete in challenging international fixtures.”

Jakupovic has been impressive in international play, and has 12 goals and one assist in nine appearances at the U-17 level (five goals and one assist came in a single game against St. Kitts). He recently scored his first MLS goal, in the Union’s match against San Diego, and had three at the MLS Next Pro level this season.

Union head coach Ryan Richter succinctly stated his thoughts on the call up, saying, “Yeah, it’s no surprise. I think, you know, if any of us were the U-17 coach, we’d be calling him out.”

The U-17 World Cup will open on Saturday, November 21 against Montenegro at 9:30 pm local time.

Meanwhile, on the 2010 side of the U-17 group, Union Academy defender Landon Mulvenna has been named to coach Jeremy Hall’s roster for the training camp in San Pedro Del Pinatar, Spain. Running September 21-October 4, the squad will play four friendlies at the Pinatar Arena as they prepare for the 2027 Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers:

9/26: Scotland

9/29: Netherlands

10/1: Belgium

10/3: France

In four appearances at the U-16 level, Mulvenna has one goal and one assist. He currently plays with the U-18s in the Union Academy.

LeBlanc and Reed called to U-19s

The Union have two representatives for the US U-19 squad in Marbella, Spain as they hold camp September 24-October 6. Coach Rob Valentino has called 20 players, including Union II midfielder Kellan LeBlanc, and forward Theo Reed, of the Union Academy. Both had especially strong runs of form with Union II in last couple months of the season.

The matches will be as follows:

9/29: Wales at the Banús Football Center

10/2: England at the Marbella Football Center

10/5: Norway at the Banús Football Center

LeBlanc has extensive USYNT experience, including featuring in the U-17 FIFA World Cup in Qatar last fall with Cavan Sullivan, Jordan Griffin, and Jamir Johnson. He had one goal in nine appearances at the U-17 level, and two appearances with the U-18s. With Union II this season, he had five goals and four assists.

Reed was called to the U-18 domestic training camp last January, and had five goals this season for Union II. He was a key piece of the Union Academy U-18 squad last season and is a University of Michigan commit.

USMNT: How to watch

While viewing information has not been shared yet for the U-17 or U-19 matches, the senior team’s broadcast information can be found here. If you are heading to the Union’s match on Saturday, September 26, they will be showing the match versus Peru at 4:30 PM at Union Yards.
