For the ninth consecutive season, the Philadelphia Union saw players named to Major League Soccer’s 22 Under 22 list with homegrowns Cavan Sullivan, Neil Pierre, and Frankie Westfield making the cut.

It should come as no surprise as those three recently made their US Men’s National Team debuts, and have been racking up the accolades in MLS play with the resurgent Union. Their contributions have helped the Union rise from dead last going into the World Cup break, to sixth at the time of this article.
The trio were recently notified of their honors in front of their teammates, with their families and fellow Philadelphia pro athletes in the Philadelphia Eagles’ Will Shipley and 76ers’ Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe sharing special messages for the homegrowns.
Sullivan, at just 17 years old, earned the top spot after just missing out on the list in 2025 at number 25. He is the second Union player to top the list, following Brenden Aaronson in 2020. This honor comes as Sullivan has 21 goal contributions on the season (7 goals and 14 assists), which is now the record for most by a teenage in a single MLS season. He is tied for second in MLS for assists, only behind Lionel Messi and Son Heung-Min. Additionally, he became the youngest goal scorer in USMNT history when he scored against Mexico on October 3.

Pierre, at the 7 spot, makes the list for the first time after primarily playing with Union II in 2025. Rejoining the club after a loan to Danish side Lyngby for the first half the season, the just-turned 19 year old has quickly become a force at the center back position, notching four goals and one assist.

Westfield, who made the list last year at number 18, has risen to number 11 as his stock continues to rise. The 20 year old right back has, like Sullivan, been an assist machine, leading all MLS defenders with his 11 assists. He is the third homegrown in Union history to record double-digit assists in a single season (joined by Quinn and Cavan Sullivan).
